This is where you will find homework assignments.  This week I will be laying the foundation for the Shakespearean Era/Elizabethan Era.  Please check this site when you are absent. I try to update three-four times a week.  If you miss a day, make sure that you make up work in a timely fashion; otherwise, it will affect your grade.
This year, I am doing an entirely new play, The Merchant of Venice.   I will start by beginning to talk about the time period, but you will play a part in this discovery, too.We will explore topics to present to the class related to the time period.  We will view a play that is NOT the one we read so that your "ear" tunes to the music and poetry of Shakespeare as well.  We will examine and write a sonnet just in time to present for Valentines Day, too!  Wait, I heard that.  Keep an open mind because you can really have fun with this unit if you just come wanting to learn something new.  It may just help you next year, too.  At the very least, you might have a sonnet for a dear one...:>)
MONDAY and TUESDAY- group work on "The Renaissance"
Wednesday- The Globe Theatre (A&E video)
Thursday was an "ice" day, so on Friday, I showed two short videos, one from The Endowment for the Arts and the other was a YouTube video, "Shakespeare and hip hop."
Both were in preparation for our work on sonnets to begin on Monday.

Monday, Feb. 2-Introduction to sonnets in the text and assignment for your sonnet, how to write, how to prepare for it.
