Monday-All student who did not take vocab 1, go to hall for a few mins. Makeups need to done today asap.
New vocab 2 intro in class. Remind students of for online text; PW is Password1!
Jonathan Edwards- read bio; remember our question: What keeps you in line? p. 122. Listen to sermon excerpt on pps.124-129 "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God." (Persuasion-consider the techniques for this sermon. Be prepared to be called upon to discuss, too.) This is in preparation for SAT thinking and writing.
Tuesday-Review Persuasion on P. 123 Review persuasive techniques learned last year.  In class, we used an article to examine for its use of persuasion.  We will review the appeals you found for HW in the sermon read in class yesterday, and then we will talk more about how to look for appeals, evidence, etc. in written work in prep for SAT.
Wednesday- Start with review of "CTS" and then more about reading for information for SAT.
Thursday- Finish "50 Ways..." essays in class; copy to me. Read pps. 132-135- take notes on types of characters, speech devices, stage, and setting.  We will talk about Arthur Miller and why he wrote The Crucible too. Consider:
"What fuels a mob?" From the reading, on 132-135, take notes on Drama- the elements and conventions.  We will talk about the author need for notes on him. There will be a quiz on Monday, Oct.3

Friday-The Crucible...showed half of a History Channel video about the Salem Witch Trials. We will probably finish it on Monday or Tues, after we review vocab, "CTRW" and take a quiz on the drama notes above (132-135).
