You need to read through and including Chapter 8 of Peace Like A River by Friday.

There will be a reading Quiz and Vocab 11 Quiz on Friday.

We're starting the Personal Narrative essay, and I'll attach the assignment sheet for that.

You should annotate and evaluate example essays 2 and 3 in the assignment packet and have your introduction drafted by the end of this week.

English 12 Weekly Update (5/1)

Hello everyone! I'm Ms. K., filling in for Mrs. Wynkoop while she's on leave the next month and a half. If you need to contact me, my email is hkeusch@portageps.org. Thanks!

English 12:
If you haven't taken the final Kite Runner test, you need to let me know and take it in the hall during class! I need to have those all in by the end of the week!

You should be ready for a Packet Check on Chapters 1-7 in "Tell No One" for tomorrow, and have up to page 161 read by Thursday for a Reading Quiz. You can usually use notes on Wynkoop's quizzes, but you cannot use them on this quiz! If you've been reading and keeping the characters straight, you'll be totally fine.

See the Word doc attached below; this is what you will write your final essay on.

I will miss you, but I want you to know that I have really enjoyed having you all as my students this year:>)  Move upward and onward in your very best way:>)

Quiz on TKR 11-19 will not be Weds; it will be Thurs

posted Apr 18, 2017, 5:34 PM by Helen Wynkoop

We will discuss with a discussion board I just completed tonight on Weds.  That will help review and it will provide an extra day to catch up. I had a talk with my very 7th hour class who is very honest about where they are in the reading.  It seems that most are around chapter 15, so an extra day will allow them to catch up.

Test on the entire book will still be on Tues next week, 4/25.

Tuesday- Presentations
Wednesday- Presentations
Thursday- review of chapters/images (motifs)/themes in The Kite Runner.

Monday- catch up...You have a paper due tomorrow if it is not already submitted to me; this is two copies-one with peer eval, and the other is the final draft with a lit analysis rubric attached. All is due into me on Tues, with a copy submitted to turnitin.com.
Tues- see above for paper instructions. Hazaras discussion in class. Discussion board over TKR chapters 1-4. Be ready for a quiz.
HW: read chapters 5-6 for Weds; we will definitely cover chapter 7 together in class. This is the assault chapter, so I want you to be aware of that before we begin it.
Weds-   I will be gone for Dante's service, so I will have a sub (teacher from PC) in for your class.
Thurs- 7th hour- I definitely want to get us through chapter 7 before you read more of the book yourselves.  Keep reading and there will be time for all three classes to use laptops.
Friday- TBA

Independent Reads- when we return...

posted Mar 27, 2017, 6:57 AM by Helen Wynkoop

We will start presenting these on Thurs. April 13th and I am simply going to go in alpha order from either the middle, the end or the beginning....more to come.

April 11 and 12 are reading and work days...for both IR and The Kite Runner.
I will be more specific as I see where we are in the novel.
